How to add a LUT in Premiere Pro

Premiere has two places for a LUT in the Lumetri Color panel, and they behave differently. The short version: creative looks go in Creative › Look, log conversions go in Basic Correction › Input LUT.

1. Apply a creative look

Open Window › Lumetri Color and select your clip. In the Creative section, open the Look menu and choose Browse…. Pick the .cube file. The Look slot has an Intensity slider right below it, which is the easiest way to make a look weaker.

2. If you shot in log

You have two options. Either put our camera file (for example _vlog for Panasonic) in the Creative Look slot, which converts and adds the look in one go. Or use a plain conversion in Basic Correction › Input LUT › Browse… and a Rec.709 look in the Creative slot. Note that the Input LUT slot has no intensity slider.

Newer versions of Premiere can convert log footage automatically through color management. If you use that, use the plain Rec.709 file of a look, not the camera file, or the footage gets converted twice.

3. Keep LUTs in the list permanently

Instead of browsing every time, copy the .cube files into Adobe's shared LUT folder and restart Premiere. Creative files go in a folder called Creative, conversion files in one called Technical. Create the folders if they don't exist.

C:\Users\YOUR-NAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\LUTs\Creative /Users/YOUR-NAME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/LUTs/Creative

Don't put LUTs inside the Premiere program folder. They disappear with the next update.

When Browse doesn't work

Some 2025 versions had trouble with the Browse button. Copying the file into the Creative folder above and restarting Premiere gets around it.
